Katy Denk has been passionate about early childhood education for over a decade. As an executive director of a vibrant childcare center, she dedicates her life to creating inclusive, nurturing spaces where every child can thrive. Katy’s inspiration for My Purple Elephant came from her deep commitment to autism awareness and her belief that all children deserve to be loved, accepted, and celebrated for who they are.

Outside of writing and working with young learners, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband of seven years and their two beautiful daughters, who remind her every day of the importance of kindness, empathy, and imagination. My Purple Elephant is Katy’s way of helping families and educators start meaningful conversations about acceptance, differences, and friendship.
